Register Trailers in Maine
You can register trailers in Maine even if you are not a resident or your company is not based in Maine.

Instructions for Registering Trailers in Maine
includes truck trailers, horse trailers and boat trailers. We DO NOT register live in or camper trailers.
- Registration:
- If the trailer currently has your name on the front of the title we only need a copy of the title or if it is 1994 or older,
you can send us a copy of the title or bill of sale.
- If the trailer has a GVW (weight of trailer plus the load) of 2,000 lbs. or less, the fee is $50 for 5 years. If GVW is over 2000lbs, the fee is $90 for 5 years.
- We do not register live-in or camper trailers.
- Titles:
If the trailer is 1995 or newer with an empty (unladen)weight of more than 3,000, we need:
- The original title signed over to you or your company.
- We need a Power of Attorney (download) signed and your birth date.
If we are titling in Maine it must also be registered in Maine.
If the empty weight of the trailer is 3000lbs or less Maine will not title the unit, so we only need paperwork for the registration.

NOTE: plates will be mailed first class postage in approximately 10 business days after we receive
your request.
For a FedEx fee of $35.00 you will have your plates in approximately 5 business days.
Titles will be mailed from the BMV in 4 - 6 weeks.
WE WILL NOTARIZE THE DOCUMENTS AT NO CHARGE.
* THE MINIMUM LONG TERM REGISTRATION IS 5 YEARS, UNLESS YOU ALREADY HAVE TRAILERS REGISTERED IN THE SYSTEM
